Everything about who sits in a squadron: how to found one, how to get in, how to leave, and how a leader hands it over.
Creating a squadron
Any player without a squadron can found one from the Squadrons list. The cost comes out of your own inventory:
| What | Amount |
|---|---|
| Credits | 1,000,000 |
| Every common resource | 50,000 of each |
| Every rare resource | 50 of each |
Common resources are the 16 you pull from rocky, icy, gas and crystal nodes. The rare ones are Dark Matter, Silicon, Argon and Cobalt.
The name is 3 to 20 characters long, letters, numbers and spaces only, and no two squadrons can share it. The description takes up to 500 characters across 10 lines. Description and banner can be changed later, but only by the leader.
You start as the leader, holding the LEADER rank.
Joining a squadron
There are two ways in: you apply, or the squadron invites you.
Applying. Open a squadron from the list and press Apply to Squadron. You can attach a message the leader reads while reviewing it. The button is only there while you have nothing pending, so cancel the application or invite you already have before applying somewhere else.
Being invited. The leader, or a rank with the Applications permission, searches your name from the Applications tab and sends the invite. You accept or decline it from the squadron page. The same player cannot be invited twice, and current members cannot be invited at all.
Either way the Applications tab keeps the record and its status, so the squadron can look back at what was accepted, declined or cancelled, and when.
Remember
A full squadron cannot be applied to, and pending applications cannot be accepted while it is full. Free a slot or upgrade the Academy building first.
Leaving
Press Leave Squadron on your squadron page. On the way out:
- Everything you borrowed from the Armory returns to it, and whatever you had equipped is unequipped.
- You are pulled out of every PvP group you were placed in.
- You lose your rank, so joining again starts you with none.
The leader does not get that button. With other members still in, picking a successor is part of leaving. As the last member, leaving is final: the squadron keeps its name, its bank and its history, but is left with no leader, which means nobody can apply to it and nobody can ever take it over.
Transferring leadership
The leader can hand the squadron over without leaving, from Transfer leadership in the Members tab. The new leader receives the LEADER rank and everything that comes with it.
Remember
The old leader stays in the squadron with no rank at all. Until someone assigns them one, only the squadron global tax applies to them, never a rank tax.
Kicking a member
The leader, or a rank with the Kick permission, removes a member from the Members tab. A reason is required, and the kicked player receives it as a notification. Their borrowed items go back to the Armory exactly as when leaving, and they are dropped from the squadron chat.
Remember
Kick is one of the two permissions that cannot be undone, together with Junkyard. Hand it out carefully.
Reading the member list
The Members tab doubles as the activity board of the squadron. For every member it shows their four skill levels, the system they are sitting in, the node they are gathering, when they were last seen, and a countdown of their offline actions window.
That countdown is worth watching. A squadron battle only counts members who are inside their window, which is 24 hours since their last login, or 72 hours with an active premium subscription. Someone who fell outside it is dead weight in a PvP group until they log back in.
Squadron logs
The Logs tab records what members do to the squadron, with date, type, author and description, and it can be searched. It is where you check who retrieved an item from the Armory, who changed a tax, who unlocked a Stellar Dock building or who was kicked and by whom.
TL;DR:
- Founding a squadron costs 1m credits plus 50,000 of every common resource and 50 of every rare one.
- You can only have one application or invite pending at a time.
- Leaving or being kicked returns everything you borrowed from the Armory, and drops you from your PvP groups.
- A leader leaving must name a successor, and the last member leaving locks the squadron for good.
- Logs keep a record of every squadron level action, so nothing gets lost in the chat.
