How gathering works

Choose one node from the list, check the quality and the type and, whenever you are happy with the results, click on “Start gathering”.

Your droids will start gathering the selected node and you will see stats on the central panel.

  • Each action takes 60 seconds
  • Your droid has 3 skills. Remember to upgrade your droids
  • Each body within a system has a 60% chance of having a gatherable node
  • Each node gets a quality % assigned. Node quality raises your common resource income, but it does not affect rare resources. Rare income depends on your gathering level and bonuses instead

The numbers

Base rare resource drop chance is 20%, so common resources come up the remaining 80% of the time. The crafting mod "Rare resource drop chance" is additive with this one, so a laser with 10% Rare resource drop chance takes your total to 30%.

Base rare resource amount is 200, increased by your gathering level. At level 60 you get 60% more, for 320 in total. The Technology skill that raises your base rare drop is applied on top of that.

Droids base dodge chance is 50%, and the crafting mod "Droids dodge chance" is additive with it. With one laser or probe carrying a 10% "Droids dodge chance" mod, all droids reach a 60% chance of dodging rocks and surviving.

Upgrading maneuverability on a droid adds dodge chance in a 2:1 relation, so 100% maneuverability means 50% more dodge chance.

Remember

Your droids stay attached to the system where you started them. If you travel somewhere else, they keep gathering back there, so you can explore the galaxy without interrupting your production. To move them, start gathering again from your new system.

Clones work the same way when battling.

Squadron bonuses

If you belong to a Squadron, two bonuses stack on top of everything your droids gather:

  • Amplifier: +2% resources per building level
  • Reputation: +5% for every system your squadron has claimed

Systems claimed by another squadron block your Amplifier

If the system you are gathering in is claimed by any other squadron, your Amplifier bonus does not apply at all. It does not matter whether you are at war with them or how big your building is.

Reputation and your squadron's dungeon bonus keep working. Only the Amplifier is blocked.

The same rule applies to Battling, where a system claimed by another squadron also blocks the Barracks battling boost.

So before sending your droids to a juicy node, check who claimed the system. A slightly worse node in unclaimed space can out-produce a great node inside someone else's territory.

TL;DR:

  • Focus on gathering as many different nodes as you can.
  • Check which resource you need most before selecting a node.
  • Each node has unique common resources and one rare resource.
  • Check who claimed the system: a system claimed by another squadron cancels your Amplifier bonus.
