Global taxes
Global taxes let a squadron take a cut of what its own members earn. Together with donations they are the whole income of a squadron, and unlike donations they collect themselves.
Not to be confused
These are separate from the Stellar Dock taxes explained in Buildings. Both systems work together.
Remember
Assign the Taxes permission to the member you want managing them.
What can be taxed
Gathering is the obvious one, but it is far from the only activity a squadron takes a cut of:
| Rate | Takes a cut of |
|---|---|
| Rocky, Icy, Gas, Crystal | The resources gathered from that node type |
| Rare rocky, icy, gas and crystal | The rare resource of that node type, on its own rate |
| Credits | The credits earned battling NPCs |
| Cosmic dust | The cosmic dust earned exploring and discovering systems |
| Voyager | The cosmic dust the Voyager brings back from its waypoints |
| Dungeon credits and dungeon cosmic dust | The rewards of a squadron dungeon run |
Every rate is set on its own, in steps of 5%. The Stellar Dock is the exception: its taxes go in steps of 10% and are set on the building itself.
Squadron tax and rank tax
There are two rates that can apply to a member: the squadron wide global tax, and a tax set on their specific rank.
They do not stack. Whichever of the two is higher is the one applied, so setting a lower rate on a rank does not grant a discount against a higher squadron rate. A member with no rank at all simply pays the squadron rate.
Ranks carry a rate for every one of those, the dungeon rewards included.
Reading what you collect
The Taxes tab keeps a running total per member, broken down by every rate above, with a line for the squadron total. It has a toggle to show only current members, which is on by default: turn it off and the totals of players who already left the squadron come back into view.
How the two tax systems combine
Global taxes are calculated before Stellar Dock's taxes, and the Stellar Dock takes its share out of what the global tax already collected.
Example
Global taxes: 50% on Rocky Workshop taxes: 80% on Rocky
- Someone gathers 1000 gold
- 500 units go directly to Someone (50%)
- 500 units are taxed, and the Stellar Dock takes 80% of that
- 400 units go to the Workshop
- 100 units go to the Squadron inventory
The Roller pet
An active Roller pet makes a member's taxes more efficient: the squadron receives more than what was actually taken from the gatherer, scaled to the pet's level. The extra amount is generated on top, so the gatherer pays exactly the same as anyone else and simply contributes more.
It works on everything the squadron taxes, not only on gathering: battling credits, exploring and Voyager cosmic dust, dungeon rewards, and the share the Stellar Dock takes for its parts.
Levelling your Roller is the one way to raise what you give your squadron without giving up anything yourself.
TL;DR:
- Squadrons tax gathering, battling, exploring, the Voyager and dungeons, not only resources.
- Global taxes apply first, then the Stellar Dock takes its cut of the taxed amount.
- Squadron tax and rank tax do not stack: the higher rate wins.
- Rare resources are taxed at their own rate, separate from common ones.
- An active Roller pays the squadron extra without costing the member anything.
